A Pair of Powerful Hybrid Power Plants
Whether you choose the standard Toyota Crown or the Crown Hybrid MAX, you'll be getting more punch than the outgoing Avalon Hybrid models. The standard kit uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and three electric motors to deliver 236 horsepower through the standard all-wheel drive system. In the Hybrid MAX you'll get power from a 2.4-liter turbo and a single rear-axle electric motor. Combined this system delivers 340 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, once again through the all-wheel drive system.
As you'd expect, fuel economy is strong with both options. At up to 42 mpg city and 41 mpg city, the base Crown is your best efficiency bet, but the Hybrid MAX does well with 29 mpg city and 32 mpg on the open road.
