A New Powertrain
The 2022 Toyota Tundra ditches the fuel-guzzling V8 in favor or both more efficiency and more power than before. A twin-turbo V6 engine churns out 348 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque as well as up to 24 mpg highway, giving it 8 mpg more than the outgoing model. A hybrid option is also available and gives you an impressive 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, plus up to 20 mpg city fuel economy.
You can still have the Tundra with either rear-wheel drive or 4x4 capability, so you can opt for a more efficient drive with less weight or the full capability of a 4x4 pickup.
Material Improvements
While the rugged cabin design of the Tundra feels similar to the outgoing model, the materials surrounding you offer a much more elevated experience than the previous Tundra. The brushed metal accents have a warmer tone, while the soft-touch surfaces feature a velvety leather texture that feels more upscale. You can also include wood-grain accents on the top-spec 1794 Edition for an even more luxurious feel.
